About the Scarecrow Patch

Gene and Sheila Horak, Proprietors

Back in 1985, we decided to move to the country to raise our three little girls. So we bought our farm. In 1988, we were blessed again with twin boys. Gene grew up just east of St. Libory. His family was one of the first to grow and sell melons around St. Libory.

In 2001, our brother-in-law gave us the idea of opening up a pumpkin patch, so we did and called it The Scarecrow Patch. There wasn't anything like this in the area at the time. We had all these buildings in this place, so we slowly put them to good use. Our pumpkin shed is the shed the Horaks sold melons out of for years along Hwy 281. We have five kids, our grandkids, family, and friends who help us with the Scarecrow Patch. We are so blessed to have them in our lives.
